What Kenyan roles cost against their UK equivalents, and how much of the apparent saving survives once the cost is fully loaded.
This report takes the UK cost-comparison view. For the role-by-role pay data itself, see the 2026 Kenya BPO Salary Benchmarks.
What this report covers
Headline savings against a UK hire; role-by-role benchmarks; finance and accounting in depth; the fully-loaded cost build-up; and what actually drives the number.
Headline findings
- On a like-for-like fully-loaded seat, Kenya runs USD 870–1,160 a month against the UK at USD 3,770–5,290 — both from one benchmark on one definition, which is what makes the comparison meaningful.
- KenInvest puts Kenyan labour costs 60–70% below the United States, Europe and Australia.
- Finance and accounting is the deepest professional function available, supported by more than 40,000 ICPAK-registered accountants and an active ACCA market.
- Employer on-costs are low: SHIF 2.75%, Affordable Housing Levy 1.5% employer-matched, NSSF capped.
Method and limitations
The honest caveat on any offshore saving is that gross-salary comparisons overstate it. Loaded cost includes management, facilities, technology, recruitment and attrition; a saving calculated on base pay alone will not survive contact with a real operating model.
We compare fully-loaded seat costs from a single source — GBS World, via KenInvest — precisely because mixing a sourced Kenyan figure with an unsourced Western one produces a number that looks precise and is not. Those seat costs are labelled estimates by the source.
We do not publish a UK fully-loaded figure derived from national statistics. Doing that properly requires base pay from ONS alongside separately sourced employer national insurance and benefit loading, and we would rather state the gap than fill it with an estimate.
